Tiger Extension Notes 

 
Yoshi, this page will show how to add a bit of weight to your cue with the Tiger Extension kit installed.
I will show you the components that are used in the kit, along with a brief explanation about how they go together.

First, let me point out that the butt of the cue is treated exactly the same as if a standard bumper was installed.  The countersunk tapped hole provides a home for a 3/8-16 Flat Head weight bolt and the .200" deep recess allows a standard bumper to be securely located & contained.  In other words, you can remove the Tiger kit at any time & revert to a standard weight bolt & bumper, should you decide to go that route.


The kit is comprised of a 3/8-16 adapter, a leather washer and a rubber bumper.  I made a .200" thick Delrin spacer that will allow you to install the adapter flush with the bottom of the cue.


Here's a preliminary look at the spacer when installed in the recess.


The leather washer is installed on the adapter.  It will be followed by the spacer.


Here, the spacer is installed on the adapter, which will now be screwed into the cue.


The adapter is now installed & can be tightened in place with a screwdriver of the proper size.  Note that the adapter is made of aluminum & is soft.  Using the wrong size screwdriver can damage the slot if you're not careful.


The bumper is now installed & the cue is ready for use. 

The weight of your cue is 18.98 ounces.  The addition of the included setscrew will bring the weight up to 19.17 oz, per your request.  To install the setscrew, remove the adapter & install the setscrew using a 3/16" hex key, making sure it is tightly seated to avoid any rattles or buzzes.  Reinstall the adapter as shown & you will be good to go!

BTW, I should mention that the threads in the tapped hole are approximately 3” deep.  This allows you to use a longer setscrew if you want even more weight.  Just be aware that if you decide to install a weight bolt, it will go in that far before it begins to tighten up.  Note that you can also “stack” setscrews: install the first one until it’s tight, then install another short one & tighten it up against the existing screw.  You can add more until you run out of room.  This will permit you to fine tune the weight without having to purchase longer, more expensive setscrews.
